Costa Rica

A week before I head to Costa Rica, I’m tying up loose ends and getting everything squared away.
Ran quite a few errands today…and I suppose I’ll be going the traveler’s check route, as WAMU/Star/Mastercard isn’t accepted down there How disappointing. I was hoping that withdrawing money wouldn’t be a problem, but as I’ve stumbled across many forums saying that people have had difficulty… let’s hope that I won’t have a problem cashing my traveler’s checks!

• Vaccinations – hep a, hep b, tetanus
• Medical pills/antibiotics/first-aid kit – malaria, immodium, ibuprofin, neosporin, band-aids
• “Few” clothing items – jacket, 2 pairs of pants, couple pairs of shorts, panties, tank tops, swimsuit
• Footwear – tennis shoes, keen, teva
• Protection – sunblock, insect repellant, sunglasses, hat, bandana
• Toiletries – soap, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, kleenex, wipes
• Extra – plastic bags (apparently you can’t flush toilet paper…)

All of these things are supposed to fit in my backpack. I hope they do.

I went to the health center today and am all drugged up from UTI medications, malaria med, and a tetanus shot! I’ve drank 5 bottles of water and am eating like a fiend! I will prolly take a nap before I exercise my butt off. Afterall, I’ve gotta be in shape for Costa Rica…

Still so much crap to take care of before I head out. Rawr.
I really just want to just go and wing it, but I don’t want to be under prepared…
