Wow.

Four years went by quicker than I had imagined.

For all those that know me, know how much I’ve struggled in Chico.

How almost every other weekend, for many semesters, I made trips to the Bay Area,

or found myself restless to get out.

I’ve talked about how slow it is here,

how people are “all the same,”

and how my major is such a Bull.Shit/Bachelor of Science curriculum.

And now, 7 moves later + 2 places that provided a safe haven/hang-out,

I’m never going to have another house or apartment in Chico.

I’m going to be leaving for good.

So to remember how I spent my past 4 years, here are some highlights (the good and the bad):

Freshman Year

  • A year long relationship
  • Missing out on the dorms and the true, Freshman experience
  • Computer Science and making friends with all the geeks
  • Student Computing — best job evar.

Sophomore Year

  • Dropping all my baggage in the sea, parting from school mid-semester, living in Beijing, China
  • Meeting some of the best friends I will ever meet / aka teh nerdery.
  • Parties left and right: Cocktails, Hallows Eve, 20’s Party, Rocky Horror, Nerdery Reunion, Labor Day, Seis de Mayo (slip n slide off the roof, etc.
  • Sake bombs, Flaming Dr peppers, and various shots
  • 10-eyed monster
  • Board/card/console/computer games
  • Cruisin’ / Road Trips
  • Promiscuity
  • Dancing

Junior Year

  • Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhu hai (January)
  • TehN Version 2.1(?) - Neordardy
  • St. Pattie’s Day
  • 2nd Relationship
  • Cruisin’ / Road Trips - Eureka, Redding, Shasta Caves, Dams, Waterfalls
  • Washington D.C.
  • Costa Rica
  • Coffee
  • Pool @ Dino’s
  • Breakup
  • 2 job offers
  • Cooking

Senior Year

  • New York (January)
  • Independence
  • Yoga
  • Aikido
  • iFly
  • Cabo and Ensenada Cruise
  • Cruisin’/Adventures: Trinity, Upper Sac River Rafting, Table Mtn, Oroville Dam, Honey Run, Covered Bridge
  • Drinking with peers and meeting new people

The more I think about it, the more I’m nervous that I will miss the weather, slow-paced environment, hiking Upper Bidwell, and the beautiful landscapes/scenery.

But I also know that Chico is only what I make it to be, and it is nothing,

and I mean absolutely nothing,

without the friends that I have made.
