Humble me
I’ve drank more than 5 cups of honey and lemon, 2 pints of EmergenC, gargled with warm salt water, and took like 3 naps (pretty much sleeping the entire afternoon). I’ve managed to minimize my sore throat, but nauseousness has definitely kicked in. I also have a little phlegm or congestion but it’s weird because I can breathe easier than I’ve ever been able to breathe through my nose. I wonder if that has anything to do with last night. Anyway…
Getting sick makes for a humbling experience.
It forces me to listen to my body and slow down,
speaking only when I must — softly, and relaxed.
It forces me to reconsider my options,
and even though I am capable of hanging out with people,
I should not.
I should not exert strenuous physical activity.
I have to allow my body to recover.
I try not to fight these restrictions because ultimately, they induce a calming effect.
But it’s a challenge.
I get restless. I like to move around. I like to do things so I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time.

On a side note, I didn’t step foot out of my apartment until I went to Safeway around 8pm.
So who’s the first person I see all day?
The last person I saw last night.
Awkward…
What a freak-coincidence.
