Talk the talk.

Finding work.

Managing my schedule.

Complete autonomy.

I am in control of my future.

It’s unusual and freeing.

To do what I want to do within bounds that are nowhere in sight right now.

Social events were becoming tiresome,

until tonight.

“Welcome to Fall” for all SF employees –

though I’m SV, that doesn’t stop me.

Free drinks and appetizers for 3 hours.

I’m there.

I bump into people I had training with in Atlanta,

people I met just today,

and random 6 degrees of separation –

through someone of a someone.

Though I have to admit,

it’s harder than hell to break the ice.

That initial walk into Kell’s, observing the 50+ people that I don’t know.

I failed at my first attempt to hold a conversation.

“I’m going to go refill my drink, so I’ll catch up with you later.”

Rejected.

What a bugger.

But I continued on and found quite a number that carried the conversations fluidly.

And the lack of, but what we have of geeky people — seem to remember me.

And the talk through the grape vines from one office to the other, I am talked about.

In a good light.

Amazing shit.

For the first time since I started 2 months ago,

I got that exuberant high of meeting new/old ‘interesting’ (I hate that word) people.

It’s a damn good feeling.
