First day!

Well today was relaxing for the most part…
Except that I find out my direct supervisor/lead is leaving!
He gave his notice on Thursday!
Now I’ll be without a direct lead.
It also means I get to take over quite a bit of what was on his plate…
at least related to ISO27001.
This should make for an interesting transition.
A definite sink or swim opportunity.
And I say opportunity because I tend to swim than sink.
It’s that afraid-of-drowning/failure thing.
But I get to take over the “mafia list” and manage all existing relationships.
Perhaps build some new ones too.
Excited for the challenge…a doable one I believe.
The only thing that it kind of throws off is my goals that I wrote in my last post.
I said I wanted to learn to relax.
I just don’t how I will be able to when I get a brain dump all of tomorrow and the rest of this week.
I only have this week to learn most everything that is in that man’s head!
And then he’s gone.
Like a whisper in the wind.
I thought that I would have a whole week to just get acclimated and do all my “new hire” stuffs.
But NOOoOOOOoooo!
At around 4:45pm today EL asked me how my first day was.
I told her it went by fast and I felt like I hardly got anything done…and I still need to do so much more.
But there’s not enough time in the day!
And she says, “That’s your mentality coming from WXYZ!”
And it hit me like a medicine ball to the face!
Yes, that IS the mentality from my former employer.
Two peeps left around 3:45, a few more at 4:45, and there were three of us left at 6pm.
I can’t believe I stayed that late.
Well, not really that late, but yes, late on a first day!
No more of that…
Tomorrow I’m leaving home at 7 to be at work by 8 and get the brain dump at 8:30.
Lunch will be around 11:30 and by 1:30pm I’ll get another brain dump.
I need to get some good sleep tonight to be on my game for tomorrow.
Aye yi yi!
