Second day!

MH taught me how to use an espresso machine today.

It was pretty cool.

She could totally pull off the whole barista thing.

Although, she’s too much of a brainiac, I’m sure she’d be bored out of her mind.

Pure German genius with off-the-wall comments.

Only she can get away with that stuff!

Anyway, had two half double shots which kept me wired and somewhat attentive while I got the brain dumping…all day!

Me, the two MG’s, RN, and Adam went to the An The Go food cart in our parking lot and I had the garlic noodles and lemongrass chicken skewer.

Supposedly they own Crustacean(?) in the city and branched into a food cart to sell their famous  garlic noodles.

Super yummy but I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to large quantities of garlic.

My lips got red and a bit numb.  :(

At 2pm we walked the “trail” (through parking lots) to get to the quad where we indulged in the ice cream social.

Can’t beat free ice cream and hot weather!

They had the haagen daz ice cream cone with vanilla and nuts, something that resembled a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich, and fruity popsicle bars.

I got a strawberry popsicle.

Don’t judge my choice — it was soooooo good in the nice, sunny weather! :D

Finished up some knowledge transfer and by 4:30pm I hit the road home.

MG asked if I was gonna go do yoga with him and RN but I said I was too mentally exhausted…next Tuesday I might tag along though.

Still debating about whether to get a gym membership since my company pays up to a certain amount.

Or if I get a Club One membership they pay for it in full.

Tomorrow I get to elect my benefits.

I’m not sure why that’s so exciting but it is!

Dental, vision, health…oh my! :)

I guess I finally understand the value behind having those after being without for the last few months.

It’s weird how when I come on board it seems like people are leaving or moving or what have you.

Adam is going on vacation for two weeks, my direct lead/manager is leaving for another place, MH is moving to CO sometime in August and working remotely…

I’m scared to think of who’s next.

Anyway, coming on board has been a fairly easy transition in terms of knowing most everybody since I’ve worked with nearly half of them before and socialized with the other half in non-professional settings on a few occasions now.

So far the culture and comraderie is pretty apparent.

Everyone is buddy buddy and people seem to do things together, as much as guys do things together.

I like it.

What I like the most is that everyone is their blatant self.

Which is the difference between where I am now and where I was before.

The old employer molded you into what it wanted you to be and appear.

This place, everyone is lax and free thinking and being.

It’s the kind of environment where I have to be as much of myself as possible — with all my faults, a bit of sarcasm, dry humor, and a few swear words here and there…

in order to fit in!

Strange, how that works out!

I don’t have to have the appearance of everythings-fine-even-though-i’m-panicking-inside.

Tomorrow I’m going to try and get to work by 7:30-8am.

I hate stop and go traffic whether it’s 50 minutes or 26 minutes.

101 going there, 280 coming back.

Tomorrow I have to deliver my first status report — at least a skeleton or mock up.

Yes, that is how quick I have to learn.

I haven’t worked on anything yet,

yet I have to give a status report on what “we’ve” done, what are next steps are, and where we’re headed with one of the major business units.

All this — I just learned today.

I hope RN likes my work.

I hope I can tell a story.

Luck/skill be on my side please.
